The internationally acclaimed Stephen Petronio Company is celebrating its 25th Anniversary.  To mark this milestone, the Company has formed a "Pop-Up School", ongoing morning class offered to the discerning dancer at various locations throughout the city.

The third installment of Stephen Petronio's Pop-up School will run March 1-12 at Peridance, 126 East 13th Street, New York, NY 10003. Classes will take place Monday-Friday, March 1-12, 2010 from 10-11:30am.

Petronio Technique is a uniquely sophisticated language of movement developed over the past 25 years.  Classes are focused on building a rigorous and intelligent movement practice from which to move.  Beginning with a warm-up which guides the participants to make a muscular and skeletal connection to their unique physicality, emphasis is placed on the articulation of the spine, the opening of the joints and the direction and flow of energy throughout the body and into space. This preparation is followed by phrases and variations of movement derived from Company Repertory addressing its unique focus on   dynamic sequencing, poly-rhythmic initiation and a sense of fearlessness within a complex architectual forms.
